Simple Ways to Elevate Your Foyer
Front foyers and entrance ways are one of the most over looked areas of a home when it comes to design. As the first space that welcomes you home everyday - and the first thing visitors see when they step into your home - your front foyer should be functional and beautiful!
I’ve rounded up some of my go-to tips that will have your foyer looking and feeling clean and cohesive.

Smart Storage:
Front foyers tend to collect a lot of clutter. Shoes, keys, dog leashes, backpacks, mail - you name it. But all of this clutter can be distracting, taking away from the overall look and functionality of your foyer. Decorative baskets and cubbies are the perfect solution for this! Not only will they help keep your foyer organized, but they can double as a stylish design accent. For example, choose ones with colours, patterns and textures that will complement the current design of your space.

Organize Outerwear:
Organizing your visible and non-visible outerwear is a great way to give your foyer a more cohesive look and feel. Make sure closets are neat and tidy, and coat racks and hooks aren’t too full. When used lightly, decorative hooks can improve the function of a space while also keeping things pretty!

Decorative Rugs:
Decorative rugs and welcome mats are indispensable for protecting your flooring and defining the space. Choose rugs with coordinating a colour palette and/or pattern to the adjacent rooms. But be careful not to choose one that’s too light - darker mats and rugs can help conceal dirt and debris brought in from outside!

Mirrors:
Mirrors are the perfect addition to any small and awkward foyer or entrance way. Not only can help visually expand the space - but its a great way to get a quick glimpse before heading out! Make sure to keep the shape, size and frame in mind - they should complement design details already present in your foyer.

Bench or Seating:
Make the most of your foyer with some multi-functional seating! Not only will this allow for a comfortable place to put on shoes and quickly rest bags and purses - but it’s a great way to add some style too! For example, use the seating to add some throw pillows that complement your colour scheme. Check out my throw pillow guide here!
