6 Ways to Refresh Your Bathroom

When it comes to home renos and design, the bathroom can often get pushed to the bottom of the priority list. They aren’t utilized as much by your family or guests - so entertainment and lounge spaces often get more attention.

If you are looking to refresh your bathroom, without a large financial commitment and a lot of hard work, this blog is for you! There are so many simple, affordable ways to give your powder room or ensuite a face-lift - and I’ve listed my top six below!

Fresh Cabinet Paint

A fresh lick of paint on cabinets can work wonders for a bathroom. Cabinets are often a focal point - so changing the paint colour can give beautiful results! Try a lighter colour if other features of your bathroom make the room too dark. Lighter cabinets can brighten the overall space when the right colour is chosen. If your bathroom receives a lot of good light, try going with something more bold! I love this bathroom cabinet before and after by @spvliving - so much inspo.

Updated Cabinet Hardware

Just like bathroom fixtures - cabinet hardware is a small but mighty feature that can easily and affordably be updated to bring a pop of style to your bathroom. Consider the shape, material and colour of your knobs and pulls. Show off your unique taste with simple neutral hardware, or with something bold that pulls the room together!

New Fixtures

Even though they may be a small feature in most bathrooms, it always amazes me how new fixtures can transform a space. New faucet handles, towel racks, shower heads and sconces are an unobtrusive way to add interest - and value - to any bathroom. Consider the style, colour and material. Make sure to choose a resilient material, and don’t be afraid to be bold.

Replace Shower Curtain

Shower curtains are the most inexpensive way to improve the look and feel of your bathroom. A good quality shower curtain free of stains will not go unnoticed! If you keep your shower curtain closed, it actually becomes a rather large focal point - so consider how the colour, pattern and material will complement the current design. When in doubt - a simple neutral linen shower curtain is always a good choice. Don’t forget about the curtain hooks either - they are another small feature that can easily elevate the overall space when chosen properly.

Add an Art Piece

A bold and unique piece of art that complements the colour scheme and design of your bathroom can bring so much visual interest to the space! If you find your bathroom is lacking that “wow” factor - try finding the perfect piece of wall art - or a floor piece if the space allows for it! If you have a smaller bathroom, make sure that the art piece isn’t too big - it could make the room appear even smaller! Proportion is key!

Updated Lights

Just like hardware and fixtures, updated lighting can bring a bathroom from 0 to 100! Not only can the light fixture itself - depending on material and style - enhance the overall the design, but fresh lighting can also help accentuate other features of the bathroom that may not have received the best lighting before!

Whether you don’t have the time or patience for bathroom renos, or it’s simply just not in the budget - these simple updates will have your bathroom feeling brand new.

With love,

Kristina
