One of the areas that causes so much frustration for my clients is styling, particularly decor items. Decor can be tricky and most of us have experienced that feeling of overwhelm when we walk into HomeSense and see aisles and aisles of decor. There’s a lot to take in and we have a lot of questions - what size, what finish? What if there was a service where all the decor you need showed up at your door? Well now there is!

I’m happy to announce that Kristina Gray Design has a new offering called Decor To Go. I will take away the headache of shopping and styling. With my personalized styling service you’ll be able to finally have that finished home that you’ve been working so hard to create. And it all happens without any effort on your part, quickly and easily.



HOW DOES DECOR TO GO WORK?

Let’s be honest. I do a lot of interior design and staging work and one thing stands out to me more than anything else. Consistently I see a lack of decor and styling in homes. This is the hard part and often we get our space feeling almost complete but something’s missing. It’s the finishing touches.

If you’ve been driving from store to store, buying and returning decor items, you may be ready to throw in the towel. You may have already done that and resigned yourself to the fact that your house will remain unfinished.

Part of the frustration you may feel is that regardless of what pieces you bring home, they just don’t work. Consider that the lighting in a retail store is much brighter than in your home so yes, finishes will look different. The scale of things look different in a retail store because their ceilings are high and they have immense amounts of space, often crammed with items. Not surprisingly, what appeared to be the perfect vase to fill the space on your mantle looks enormous and out of place at home.

We also severely underestimate how much decor we actually need to create that layered, finished look. You may take home 10, 20 or even 30 pieces and find that it hasn’t made a dent in the overall look of your space. It all comes down to the scale and it’s hard to determine what scale is right for you without a designer by your side.

1/ INQUIRY & DISCOVERY CALL

It all begins with your inquiry. You can visit my website and peruse all of my offerings. If Decor To Go sounds right for you, reach out via my contact page. Once I receive your inquiry I’ll contact you and set up a time for your complementary discovery call.

During this call we’ll discuss your space and your personal design style. We’ll talk about your budget and focus in on your goals in regards to decorating.



2/ CONSULTATION

Every decor styling project begins with an in-home consultation. During our consultation together, we’ll discuss your design style. You’ll highlight what you feel is working and what areas you would like to improve.

While we walk around your space I can help you determine which of your pieces can be used and where there are gaps. We’ll create a plan that allows us to move forward.

Each consultation is personalized to your particular needs but we can discuss furniture placement and paint colours if required.



3/ RECEIVE YOUR PRICING GUIDE

Once our consultation is complete you’ll receive the KGD Decor Pricing Guide. This will outline the pricing options for your decor pieces. This empowers you to understand the financial commitment and to get a true understanding of what things cost.



4/ PROPOSAL IS SENT TO YOU

I will create and forward to you a Proposal for my services. This does not include the cost of the decor items. You will be billed for those after my selections have been made.



5/ DESIGN BOARD CREATED (only on qualifying projects)

If you’ve requested larger, more expensive items like rugs, lighting or small furniture pieces, I’ll create a design board to highlight those pieces for your approval. Smaller decor items like pillows, table and shelf decor items are selected by myself and are not included on design boards.



6/ PAYMENT IS MADE ON DECOR ITEMS

Once I’ve completed the decor selections you’ll be invoiced for the total. Payment can be made quickly and easily by credit card or e-transfer. It’s that simple!



7/ DELIVERY AND INSTALLATION

When the big day arrives I’ll bring all the selected items to your home. I’ll spend time setting everything up in place and together we’ll review all the selections. If there’s any pieces of decor (of the non pre-approved items) you don’t love, no problem. I’ll take them away and refund you the full amount.
