Stylish Kids Rooms
Confession time: on a few occasions (okay, many occasions), I get a little jealous of kids’ rooms. It sounds embarrassing to admit, but who wouldn’t want a cool teepee hideout to read books in all day? Or a giant chalkboard wall to doodle on? Or an awesome loft bed with lantern lights hanging above? These magical rooms can become the ultimate exercise in creative freedom. It’s our chance to paint fun patterns, choose playful art prints, and construct the kind of space we always wanted as a child.
A child’s room is the perfect spot for a vibrant pop of color. This cobalt blue, with splashes of yellow thrown in for good measure, is a great choice for keeping things sophisticated, yet youthful.
Bold graphics were made for this type of space. In this instance, keeping colors neutral, like this gray and white zigzag wall, helps prevent the room from feeling too harsh and overwhelming.
Loft beds are such an ingenious idea. Not only do they look super cool, they’re also an incredible space saver. I love the concept of including a desk space or reading nook underneath.
Never underestimate the power of shelving in a kid’s room. Shelves are an excellent way to display special toys or keepsakes, while keeping them out of reach from accident-prone hands. These bright green cubes perform double duty by providing useful storage, as well as a generous dose of color to the walls.
There’s something so warm and cozy about the soft, muted tones in this room. But the real draw in this space is the darling house-shaped headboard. Unique and whimsical furniture pieces are the perfect method of setting the stage for a child’s imagination to run wild.
